Volunteers: Scientists in the School April 30 1pm to 3:30pm

  Scientists in School

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are pleased to have a Scientists in School
presenter coming to our classroom on  for a
half-day science workshop on Tuesday, April 30th
during the afternoon. This is a wonderful
opportunity for our class to experience science
and technology through fun and exciting
“hands-on” activities and experiments. Our
scientist presenter has requested that we have
4 adult volunteers who are able to stay for the
duration of the workshop, from to 1:00 to 3:45
to assist with the activities. (Parent volunteers
are asked to arrive early at 12:40 so that the
Scientist can explain the Science stations.) No
advance knowledge is required for this
opportunity to share the thrill of discovery with
your child. If you are able to volunteer, it would
be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
J. da Costa

Reading Strategy: Inferring

Dear Grade 2s ,

We have been learning how to Infer when we read. We know that inferring means using clues from the text and your own experience to figure out what the author is really trying to say. (It's different from a "find out question." where the answer is clear and in the text.

Here is a fun "interactive"detective game to practise inferring. Good luck and enjoy the game!
